This program is a basic-level training including all of the processes of fashion design, and will help you develop your visual skills by combining them with technology. With the various research methods to be learned, you will follow up developments in the fashion industry, and become familiar with relations in the collection industry.

In the first year of the program, you will focus on technical studies to build a fashion design foundation, and enhance your skills with design drawing courses and projects during the semester, including drawing, illustration, technical drawing, Photoshop/Illustrator, pattern and application techniques.

In the second year, you will learn how to create a design from a creative point of view, and learn the principles of creating a design while working as a designer, by preparing a 'Designer Project' with a designer from the sector and an 'Industry Project' in cooperation with a brand. This ensures that you will have a chance to work with a professional on the projects, while gaining comprehensive knowledge on the latest developments in the fashion industry, and building a strong network in the sector thanks to guest trainers and brand officials.

At the end of the program, you will have a professional portfolio with a mini collection, and you will present your collection to the sector at a fashion show in Istanbul Fashion Week.

Applicants will attend an interview for admission. In accordance with law no. 5580 of Turkey's Ministry of Education, applicants need to have at least a secondary education degree.


Drawing Techniques: With this module, participants learn the principles of drawing and carry out freehand and pattern works. They build a foundation in figure drawing based on the human anatomy and movements, the use of light-color balance with different materials, reflecting fabric textures on paper with the help of painting techniques, and model fitting and collection drawings.

Design Development and Practice: aims to support participants in comprehending how to create themes and design ideas with sources of inspiration. Research is carried out to support design processes, and archiving is taught by gathering information and materials. Ensures competence in presenting the created ideas, as well as compiling a visual diary, and creating stories, colors and fabric panels.

Collection Planning and Development: teaches how to understand design research and collection planning methods, and how to develop a collection with a theme. Addresses the impacts of trends, material, detail, production, technique, and target audience on collection integrity, and provides the opportunity to practice this whole design development process on projects.

Draping Techniques: teaches how to develop a creative design using the basic draping techniques, and how to use 3D works as a tool in design development.

Pattern and Sewing Techniques: Founded on basic pattern techniques, this module teaches pattern cutting and model development principles, making two-dimensional patterns, prototype preparation, and fitting and sewing techniques.

Fashion Marketing: addresses topics such as comprehending the dynamics of fashion, understanding the functioning of the industry and business world, marketing principles, target audience analysis, positioning, market research methods, and the coordination of design, and management teams.

Photoshop and Illustrator: teaches how to create a design in digital media, how to build a collection theme and prepare stories as well as color panels, how to prepare color alternatives developing pattern/printing works, detailed model drawing and fitting on the Photoshop and Illustrator programs. Considering the use of the pixel-based Photoshop and vector-based Illustrator programs, and the differences in their working principles, it also demonstrates advanced drawing and painting, in addition to effect adding, photo-editing etc. in both programs. Professional drawing flyers are created, including detailed, artistic and technical drawings.

Designer and Industry Projects: The best examples of applied training, the key element of the Fashion Design program, are displayed with these projects, which teach how to work with a real design brief, and the key issues to be taken into account while generating this process. This module aims to help participants look at the fashion sector as both a freelance designer and a brand manager. Enables participants to gain experience in all of the processes from design to production and selling with the guidance of sector professionals and famous designers. Teaches the principles of building a design for a brand, the use of color and form, and the rules of preparing a collection for a target market and consumer.

Final Collection and Portfolio: Participants create a final collection. The collection creation helps participants to transform their designs into a portfolio by developing and realizing them based on the sources of inspiration that they choose independently.

At the end of the training, a diverse exhibition displaying the projects and final collections that have been completed during the program will be presented to the leading companies, designers and media representatives of the fashion sector. Designs selected by a committee will be displayed at Istanbul Fashion Week.
