Istanbul Moda Academy (İMA) hosted the mobile exhibition “Eco Chic” with collaboration of Swedish Institute and the Swedish Consulate in Istanbul between 1-21 October 2009. The exhibition presented 16 designs of 14 Swedish fashion designers to visitors.
“Eco Chic” exhibition, bringing together ecological approach of Swedish fashion designers including Filippa K., Julian Red and Dem Collective was held in Belgrade, Minsk, Kiev and Riga prior to Istanbul. Their next stop after İstanbul was Berlin and then New York.
A seminar and two workshops were organized within the framework of the exhibition held at İMA. The seminar held on 2 October with the theme “Ecological Life and Fashion” hosted “Eco Chic “Project manager from the Swedish Institute Anna Maria Bernitz, business partner of Dem Collective Anika Axelsson, business partner of Bergman’s and a lecturer at the Institute of Ecological Design Marcus Bergman, Nina Baldwin from Centre for Sustainable Fashion, London College of Fashion, Rengin Akyüz from the Turkish ecological fabric producer Ants and Hüseyin Taş from Institute for Marketology.
A special ceremony will be held for the opening of The “Eco Chic” exhibition on 1 October. Two workshops are planned within the framework of the exhibition on 13 and 14 October to be led by two designers, one Turkish and one Swedish, where participants will design simple products using organic or used materials.
